Purchasing a new skincare product is not just about one product. You’d also want to make sure any new addition gets along with the other members of your skincare family. If you’ve had your eyes on our Triphala Pigmentation Corrector, look no further to find out where exactly this powerful formulation fits into your daily skincare ritual. Wondering if it can be used at the same time as other active ingredients like AHAs, Retinoids or Vitamin C? In short: Yes.

Not just with AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acid), Retinoids and Vitamin C, the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector was created with a lot of thought, testing and trials so that it is flexible enough to allow easy layering with many other products. It works well after clinic treatments or alongside prescription treatments to help brighten and fade hyperpigmentation. Suitable for both day and night use, see how it can be layered with a wide range of active ingredients.

How to layer AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) with Triphala Pigmentation Corrector

Since the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector does not contain any AHAs or BHAs, it is safe to combine them with additional AHAs and BHAs or other products containing these ingredients. However you just want to pay attention to any skin sensitivities. Acids do have a slightly lower pH than the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector, and since the lower the pH, the more likely it is to sensitise the skin, you can try layering them over the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector or over a moisturiser to reduce any risk of irritation. However, if you know that your skin does well with AHAs and BHAs, any order would be fine as long as all the products are well absorbed.

On that note, layering the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector under our AHA/BHA product, Complexion Clarifying Accelerator is an excellent pairing for oily skins or hot summer days to ensure sufficient hydration, barrier support and clarification of pores.

How to Layer Retinoids with Triphala Pigmentation Corrector

The Niacinamide + Antioxidant power duo in the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector means that it can work in excellent synergy with Retinoids, resulting in amplified results from both products. In fact, pairing the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector with Ursolic Acid & Retinal Overnight Reform (which are both packed with peptides) makes for a phenomenal well-ageing routine. Apply the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector after cleansing and allow the light fluid emulsion to settle and dry before layering your Retinoid, noting that Retinoids are best applied to dry skins to avoid irritation.

How to Layer Vitamin C with Triphala Pigmentation Corrector

The Triphala Pigmentation Corrector is already packed full of a powerful spectrum of antioxidants such as our star ingredients Amla, Terminalia Chebula, Terminalia Belerica and Milk Thistle (rich in Silymarin). But if you want even more antioxidant protection, it can be used together with Vitamin C too, a cult-favourite antioxidant for heightened protection against oxidative stress.

If your Vitamin C is a light water like L-Ascorbic Acid, apply the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector over the watery serum. If your Vitamin C is an oily creamy formula (or oil soluble Vitamin C) , layer it over the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector, going by the rule of applying watery products before oily products. Just be careful when layering your sunscreens over oils as this can impact the adhesion of the SPF to the skin. So make sure your products are well absorbed into the skin before applying your SPF.

How to layer Hydrators with Triphala Pigmentation Corrector

The Triphala Pigmentation Corrector is a deeply hydrating brightening treatment that is rich in humectants (pulls moisture from the air to the skin), and it is best applied right after cleansing for optimal hydration. But if you feel that your skin is still thirsty for more after this, another hydrating serum can be layered on top of the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector if it is a thicker serum. If you prefer thinner and more easily absorbed hydrators, layer that first. Then, follow up with your other actives or finish off with a moisturiser.

Below is the suggested routine application:

AM Routine

STEP 1: Cleanse.

STEP 2: Watery Vitamin C serums like L-Ascorbic Acid OR hydrating serums if you find your skin is generally sensitive to low pH products.

STEP 3: Triphala Pigmentation Corrector - Apply 1-2 pumps over your face, neck, and chest for a bright and even skin tone.

STEP 4: You can add any oily or creamy vitamin C derivative serums or peptide serums here.

STEP 5: Moisturise if needed.

STEP 6: Apply a thick layer of SPF 30 or above.

PM Routine:

STEP 1: Cleanse.

STEP 2: Watery Vitamin C serums like L-Ascorbic Acid OR hydrating serums if you find your skin is generally sensitive to low pH products.

STEP 3: Triphala Pigmentation Corrector - Apply 1-2 pumps over your face, neck, and chest for a bright and even skin tone.

STEP 4: Again you can add any vitamin C derivative serums or peptide serums here.

STEP 5: You can use your Ursolic Acid and Retinal Overnight Reform or Complexion Clarifying Accelerator here

STEP 6: Moisturise if needed.

For sensitive or sensitised skins

If you find your skin is sensitive of late, or sensitive to low pH products, we would suggest layering the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector over another serum or moisturiser to prevent the risk of any risk of irritation. If you have a cut or a compromised skin barrier, we would suggest refraining from using the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector until your barrier is strong and settled. In which case we would suggest barrier strengthening, hydrating and repair products in the interim.

Overall

In general, you can use the Triphala Pigmentation Corrector with almost any other product, and these are just some guidelines to follow to ensure you get the most from each step of the routine. Wishing you happy healthy skin!
